Typical surface speed (SFM), RPM ranges, and recommended wheel types for common workpiece materials. These are general guidelines — always verify with your machine manufacturer's specifications and your specific grinding conditions.

SFM = Surface Feet per Minute. RPM values depend on wheel diameter — a 6-inch wheel at 3000 SFM runs ~1910 RPM; a 10-inch wheel at 3000 SFM runs ~1146 RPM.
Surface finish (Ra) is influenced by grit size, dressing condition, feed rate, and coolant — not just wheel speed.
For creep feed grinding or nickel-based alloys, consult specialized machining handbooks as parameters differ significantly.
